Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon, Portugal's capital, is a ramshackle but charming mix of now and then. Lisbon itself sits on seven hills at the wide mouth of the river Tagus (Tejo) where it meets the Atlantic Ocean.
It is a city renowned for its seafood and custard tarts (Portugese tart). It is relatively cheaper to travel in Portugal than other European countries. It's a city of faded ironwork balconies, multicolored tiles, and mosaic sidewalks. Lisbon rewards a wandering spirit as you stroll around the town and old quaters.
